<p>After separating from first husband Ryan Phillippe in 2006, actress Reese Witherspoon endured a rough spell. In a recent <em>60 Minutes</em> interview, she notes that she spent “a few years just trying to feel better. You know, you can’t really be very creative when you feel like your brain is scrambled eggs.” As she faced <a href="https://esme.com/resources/c/divorce" target="_blank" class="wordlink">divorce</a> and the stresses of being a <a href="https://esme.com/voices/perspectives/whats-a-solo-mom" target="_blank" class="wordlink">Solo Mom</a> to kids Ava and Deacon, Witherspoon’s career suffered critical and box-office flops. “I don’t think I recognized how anxious I was about being a single parent,” she told <em>Marie Claire</em> magazine. “It’s not easy on anybody.” In 2011, Witherspoon married Hollywood talent agent Jim Toth; they have a son together.
