Hey, everyone! I am a single mother by choice and the proud momma of a beautiful and spirited toddler whom I adopted at birth. As a journalist, I have reported for newspapers, online news sites, and national television news. My work has appeared in the New York Times, the Washington Post, and Yahoo!, and I spent several years on staff at ABC News and the “World News with Diane Sawyer.”
When my son was about a year old, we packed up our Manhattan brownstone and moved to New Orleans. I miss my city, but the move allowed me to spend more time with my son and give him a backyard. Plus, New Orleans is pretty awesome.
I am thrilled to be your adoption resource guide at ESME. Adoption is a roller-coaster ride, but one I am forever grateful to be on. Though we have made great strides in removing the secrecy that has plagued adoptive and birth families for decades, there still seems to be a sense of mystery about adoption. I’m here to promote honest discussion among adoptive parents, adult adoptees, and birth families.
