A Welcome Note from Your ESME Public Assistance Resource Guide, Julia Liu
Hello, ESME Sisters!
Let me welcome you to ESME’s Public Assistance Resource section. I am your resource guide, Julia Liu, and although I know quite a bit about this area, I am certainly not an expert in this field. I can point out resources and major services that are available, but smaller organizations out there can often be a great help as well. That is where you come in. Share what you know, share what you have learned, talk about it all, and help one another!
We are so conditioned to feel bad if we aren’t financially comfortable. We feel bad if we can’t buy the “right” clothes for our kids or if we take buses instead of owning a car. We feel bad if we need to rely on Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits or food pantries. Not here! There is no judgment in this space! We will celebrate our successes and cheer one another on. I would love for this space to be a place where you can come if you need some help with your utilities or are maybe trying to plan an inexpensive vacation. We will cheer for you when you have success and be here to listen when you don’t.
Success comes in many forms; let’s help each other achieve it and have healthy relationships with our kids or enjoy whatever it is we do for work. And if that’s not possible, at least we can help make your home a sanctuary for you and your kids. Please explore our Resources section, and check out the many Articles we have concerning public assistance. For additional support and connection, we have Sister Chat and a closed Facebook group called ESME Public Assistance, and be sure to find a Tribe or two.
I look forward to watching all of us grow, be happy, and find our way—with a little help from one another!
Until next time,
