Life coach, motivational speaker, writer, and force of nature

Life coach, motivational speaker, and writer Noelle Federico is the ultimate Working Single Mom. It only goes to reason she would create The Working Single Mom (TWSM) brand as a reflection of her personal identity and vehicle to inspire women to overcome fears and move forward. Since its inception in 2014, she has built an online following of more than 300,000 people.

Federico also teaches branding and marketing, and is the author of several books, including Practical Change: 8 Ways to Rejuvenate Your Life (Music City News Publishing, Inc., 2005), offering encouragement and guidance on effecting change.

The owner of the consulting firm Fortunato Partners, Inc., Federico has endless experience in all aspects of business management, media relations, sales, and marketing; but she has recently stepped away from the corporate world to devote all her time to TWSM. “It was a complete leap of faith and a God prompt. It’s important to me to leave the world better than I found it.”

In 2009, Federico founded A Generous Heart “as a way to give back to things I wanted to support with the intention of creating content that would help people.” The nonprofit sponsors scholarships and educational programs so that excellence is revealed in students, individuals, and small groups, inspiring and aiding them to achieve success so they may contribute to the world in positive ways.

“Often people operate within constraints that are manufactured by someone else, which causes ineffectiveness and lost opportunity. Everyone has excellence already in them; they just need the tools to reveal it.”

Formerly of Franklin, Tennessee, she recently moved back to Fairfax, Vermont, to be closer to her parents. “I’m an only child. It was time to be closer to home. It was another God prompt, so I did not question it. I just uprooted everything and came back.” She currently lives with her son, Antonio, and three cats.

Q: When did you become a Solo Mom?

A: I divorced Antonio’s father when Antonio was 18 months old. He’s now 16, so I’ve pretty much done the whole thing as a single mom.

Q: How did you/do you manage single parenting while working?

A: I had my office in the house, still do, and I had full-time nannies. Antonio was never put in day care. He was always in the house or at school. I busted my ass to make enough money to take care of everything.

Q: You are so busy. Do you date?

A: I am still single, very much by choice! I prefer to let things happen the way they are meant to happen. I figure if God wants me to date someone, he will bring that person to me. I have no problem being alone. In all honesty, it is a lot less drama, and I have plenty to do. I have found that the wrong person can really distract me from the work in the world I feel is mine to do. I have come to understand that I am not for everyone.

Q: What motivated you to launch The Working Single Mom?

A: It was my vehicle for inspiring others. From what I can see, people often live in fear of not having enough money or not being able to live the lives they want. Oftentimes, this fear becomes debilitating, and they are unable to move forward. I can speak to that. I have been bankrupt. I have been afraid. I have been broke, etc., and I came out on the other side. I wanted to be able to walk people out of their fears and into the lives they want. I needed a platform to start that conversation, hence TWSM identity.

It’s me. It’s my public persona, and it does whatever I need it to do—be it blogging, speaking engagements, teaching, etc.

Q: How does a Solo Mom take that first step to changing her life?

A: The first step is to change your thinking. It’s a process and isn’t easy. Feelings and actions follow thoughts. Get control of your own mind, and you can get through anything.

Q: Of what about yourself are you the most proud?

A: That I keep going no matter what and I am never stopped by circumstances. I have faith that will move mountains and has. Nothing shakes my faith in God—ever.

Q: What words of wisdom do you have for the Solo Mom?

A: There is no such thing as work-life balance when you are a single mom. It is an ebb and flow, and you have to stop beating yourself up, trying to live by other people’s definitions of stuff. It all works together, and it’s all fine. We do the best we can, and it is good enough!

Q: What’s next for you?

A: I am working on two new books and am about to launch a class across the country called “7 Ways to Create Good Fortune.” It will cover some basic universal success principles and provide people with the tools to move their lives from where they are to where they want to be. I’ve been studying these principles since I was 12, so I am the real deal. I have built my life on these principles.

I’m a straight shooter. If people want to change their lives for the better, they must be willing to do the work.

Q: What is your primary goal in life?

A: My intention is simply to life coach, teach the seminars I’m designing, speak, and write. The business stuff I will do if asked because I am astute at it; however, my passion is to improve the quality of people’s lives by showing them nothing is impossible and giving them the tools to think without constraints.

People message the page daily telling me what a difference it’s made. This is what makes my life and everything I am doing worthwhile. I actually live to serve. It’s what I am about.
