Quick Tips for Solo Moms: Stress Reduction

Try these tips for single moms dealing with stress

Stress is perception. The way you view a particular problem or situation is up to you. You can change the way you manage stress by changing your perceptions.

Try these simple tips to help reduce your stress:

  1. Ask yourself, “Will this matter a year from now?” Most of the time, the answer is “No.”
  2. Just breathe. You’ve probably heard this piece of advice many times, but have you really tried it? Three deep breaths is all you need to calm the sympathetic nervous system. Your brain reacts to your body, and deep breaths actually will slow your heart rate. Try it: close your eyes, take 3-6 deep breaths, and notice the difference.
  3. Don’t be afraid to ask for help. Seek assistance and compassion from your friends and family, support groups, professional therapists, and, if available, resources offered by your organization’s employee assistance program.
