Since its creation, First 5 California has brought these critical services to millions of parents, caregivers, and children ages 0 to 5, and is striving to reach thousands more every day. New parents, grandparents, and caregivers may obtain a kit full of information and tips. It is free and available in six different languages (English, Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, Korean, and Vietnamese). In-home volunteer mentoring and on-site parenting education classes to decrease the risk of child abuse, neglect and family violence. The goal of the Center is to provide emotional and educational support for parents in nurturing and guiding their children through the critical first 5 years of a child’s life. They offer on-site parenting classes for mothers to be, young mothers, and adult and teen mothers. They also have a family literacy class. There are a number of volunteer opportunities available through this organization.
