In-home volunteer mentoring and on-site parenting education classes to decrease the risk of child abuse, neglect and family violence. The goal of the Center is to provide emotional and educational support for parents in nurturing and guiding their children through the critical first 5 years of a child’s life. They offer on-site parenting classes for mothers to be, young mothers, and adult and teen mothers. They also have a family literacy class. There are a number of volunteer opportunities available through this organization.

The Lower Naugatuck Valley Parent Child Resource Center (PCRC) has been serving families in the towns of Ansonia, Derby, Oxford, Seymour, Shelton and the surrounding area since 1975. It is the leading provider of behavioral health services to children and families in the Lower Naugatuck Valley, serving more than 1,200 children each year, including many who suffer from serious behavioral and emotional problems, trauma, abuse, and neglect. It offers clinical, early childhood, family support, and community partnerships services.

Child, Inc., provides creative prevention and treatment programs that meet the changing needs of families. It serve dependent, neglected and abused children and their parents. It provides programs for those involved in domestic violence situations, especially children. Their goals include protecting victims and treating those responsible for acts of domestic violence. On their website, one can find information on emergency shelters for children, family support and parent education, specialized foster care, youth services, and domestic violence services and treatment programs.
