Jennifer Lopez: Happy, Healthy, and Loved

Jennifer Lopez: Happy, Healthy, and Loved

Jennifer Lopez—you might know her as J. Lo—is an actress, author, fashion designer, dancer, producer, and singer. But her kids, twins Max and Emme, know her simply as Mom. Lopez and the twins’ father, singer and producer Marc Anthony, finalized their divorce in 2014; the exes are amicable, and Solo Mom Lopez has described her little family to ABC News as “nontraditional.” When the pop star occasionally worries how her kids are doing, she tells herself, “It’s about love and that’s what I constantly remind myself of because I kind of let society get inside my head, ‘Oh, it shouldn’t be like this. I did this, I did that. I failed.’ And it’s like, no. They’re happy, they’re healthy, they’re loved more than anything in the world and they’re going to be fine.” Perhaps because of society’s sometimes-rigid definition of family, Lopez takes especial pride in her role as executive producer for ABC Family drama The Fosters. The show features a multiethnic family of foster, adopted, and biological kids being raised by two moms. Lopez feels good about the precedent the show sets, showing her twins and other kids that families come in all shapes and sizes.
